The sun rose from the mountain tops warming inside Emma's room.
Emma basked in the warmth of the sun but didn't want open her eyes to meet the world. All she wanted to do was stay in Adams' arms and be safe forever. She felt Adam pull her closer to him and knew that he felt the same way. She sighed her gladness and went back into an deep sleep.
************
Brennan jumped out of his bed and rushed out of his room to Emma's. He slid the door opened fully expecting Adam and Emma to be up and wondering why the hell they were in bed together. But when the door opened he saw Adam and Emma closer than before and sound asleep. *What the hell are they fucking going to do sleep all day.* He took an step in but something stop him. He sighed and turned back around to the hall way and allowed Emma's door to shut softly behind him.
***********
"He is hurting." Shalimar said in Jesse's ear as they watched Brennan walk down the hall way back to his bedroom.
Jesse nodded. "But I'm proud of him for not waking Adam and Emma up."
"Me too." Shalimar said.
Brennan turned into his bedroom and allowed his door to shut softly behind him.
Shalimar and Jesse cringed just as if the door slammed shut.
"Poor Brennan." Jesse said softly.
"Nothing we can do." Shalimar sighed deeply and turned back toward the kicten\. "Want to have break feast with me?"
"Sure." Jesse turned toward the kicten\ and walked in at his friends side. "What do you make of Brennan's feelings for Emma? And what are Emma's feelings for Brennan and Adam. Till last night I thought I knew where she stood. But now I don't know what the hell to think." Jesse said sitting down on the bar stool.
"I don't know. Only Emma can answer those questions." Shalimar said while she took down an pan and turned the strove on high. "And I don't think she knows the answers to those question eighter." She said looking steading into Jesse's eyes.
"So you think what she is doing is running to Adam emotional knowing that she is safe with him because she is afraid of being truly in love with Brennan?" Jesse suggested.
Shalimar nodded. "Makes sense. She had an crummy home life. The only love she knew was her parents and they were lousy role models."
Jesse snorted through his nose. "More affairs between them and they are still married to each other."
Shalimar broke eggs into the pan and listened to them sizzle. She thought of when Emma finally broke down and told them about her childhood. How relieved she was when she was eighteen and old enough to leave home and never to have to see her parents again.
